Hello and welcome to anglais de conversation for the Spring 2020 semester!

Class Rules:

  1. Be respectful.
  2. Speak in English only!
  3. Be on time.

Project Descriptions and Grades: 20 points possible

Crowdfunding Group Project: 15 points

Each group will prepare a presentation of a real or invented product or company. The goal of this presentation is to convince your investors (the other students) to give you money.
Presentations should last approximately 7-12 minutes.
Presentations will include a short promotional video (30 seconds – 2 minutes) and a short speech in front of the class (2-5 minutes). A short Q&A will follow the presentations (3-5 minutes).
Every member of the group must speak at some point during the presentation.
Students must send all videos, PowerPoints, and other extra materials to AnnaBelle at least 24 hours before the presentation.

Crowdfunding Rubric:

  • Components – 5 points possible
    • group includes all required components (video, speech, Q&A)
    • group uses correct grammar on all written materials
    • video is professional and well-formatted
    • overall presentation meets the time limit (7-12 minutes)
    • students respond well to questions from the investors
  • Speaking Skills – 5 points possible
    • students are clear, confident, and comprehensible
    • students use professional body language and make eye contact
    • students do not read directly from their notes
    • students are well-prepared
  • Creativity and Interest – 5 points possible
    • students seem interested in their project
    • students use creative methods to share their ideas
    • overall project is interesting

Participation: 5 points

  • Class Participation – 3 points
    • students follow the class rules
    • students pay attention and actively participate in the class
    • students volunteer to help others
  • Crowdfunding Participation – 2 points
    • students ask at least one question during the crowdfunding presentations
    • students pay attention and invest seriously
