Absences:

Students have the right to 2 absences. If they are absent 3 times, they are défaillant.e. Students cannot justify their absences; these 2 absences include medical and family emergencies. Students who are absent on the dates of the individual exposé and group presentation must give any justifications to scolarité; if scolarité accepts these justifications, they will contact AnnaBelle, who will reschedule these projects only for the student who was absent.

Class Projects and Grades

Individual Exposé – 21/02

  • Students will choose a picture that is interesting or meaningful to them. They will bring this picture to class and give a short presentation about it.
  • Students will answer the questions:
    • What does the picture show?
    • Why did I choose this picture?
    • Why is this picture interesting or meaningful to me?
  • Each exposé should last 1-3 minutes. Students cannot use notes during these exposés.

Individual Exposé Rubric: 5 points possible

  • Student is clear, confident, and comprehensible.
  • Student does not use notes.
  • Student uses their own words (NO PLAGIARISM).
  • Student understands what they are saying.
  • Student is prepared to present on 21 February.
  • The exposé lasts 1-3 minutes.

Group Debate – 27/03

  • The entire class will participate in a debate in class on 27 March.
  • Timeline:
    • 07/02 – choose debate topic; choose sides
    • 08/02-19/03: do research outside of class
    • 20/03: prepare arguments in class
    • 27/03: debate in class
  • Students will do research and brainstorm ideas outside of class. On 20 March, students will write arguments and prepare with the rest of the class.

Group Debate Rubric: 10 points possible

  • Students are clear, confident, and comprehensible.
  • Students are well-prepared.
  • Students support their arguments with logic and facts.
  • Each student speaks; however, students do not dominate the debate, and they allow others to speak.
  • Students are respectful, calm, and professional during the debate.
  • Students use their own words (NO PLAGIARISM).
  • Students do not read directly from their notes.

Participation: 5 points possible

  • Students follow all class rules
  • Students actively participate in class activities
  • Students are respectful and have a positive attitude
